Lando Norris: British driver, 18, given Belgium GP practice drive by McLaren

British youngster Lando Norris will make his F1 race weekend debut for McLaren in Practice One for the Belgian GP on Friday.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of single-seater racing's most talented youngsters after winning the European F3 title last year and he now sits second in the F2 drivers' standings: Mercedes' young driver George Russell leads the series.

Of McLaren's 52 points, 44 have been scored by Alonso.

Alonso's decision prompted McLaren to sign Carlos Sainz from Renault.

Could Norris be part of the F1 2019 grid?

"It's a very successful team in F1 with a lot of history".

Norris tested for McLaren in Hungary before the August break.

"This weekend will be the first time that our reserve driver Lando will drive the MCL33 during a race weekend, as he steps into Fernando's auto for FP1 on Friday", said sporting director Gil de Ferran.

"We'll be taking a strategic view race-by-race at where else this might be beneficial for us over the coming grands prix".

It is likely that Norris will be given further practice run-outs over the remaining nine Grands Prix as McLaren assess whether to promote him on a full-time basis next term.

Trump says about Russian Federation probe: 'I could run it if I want'
As he often does, Trump criticised the probe as biased and asserted that he had the right to intervene in it if he wishes. Russian Federation has denied interfering in the 2016 USA election and Trump has denied any collusion took place.

"Carlos was performing well at Renault but it's impossible to know if McLaren is a good move for him", said the 2009 world champion.

But former team-mate Jenson Button reckons the 37-year-old is by no means done with F1 and if McLaren start challenging at the front again, he could return.

"He [Alonso] has done the same thing as what I chose to do - leave but leave it open, for one year after, to go back". "It'll be my first time in a McLaren on a @F1 race weekend and there's no better place to do it than Spa".

"If the auto is quick, I'm sure he'd want to jump back in in 2020".

He left the playing area with a cap covering his hand and Jos Buttler took the gloves for the remainder of the day. This was not the most fluent Kohli's knock as he ran most of his runs.
