Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo ruptures Achilles tendon

There are fears back-up goalkeeper Claudio Bravo could miss the season after suffering an achilles tendon injury in training today.

No timescale has yet been put on the 35-year-old's return and he will now travel to Barcelona for specialist assessment later in the week.

It's nowhere near as detrimental as Kevin De Bruyne's injury lay-off but Manchester City have reportedly been hit with another injury blow today.

"6'5" shot-stopper Muric is highly-rated at the Etihad Stadium and while City's preference would be to leave him at NAC, with only Daniel Grimshaw available to serve as back-up to Ederson, they are also considering recalling the Montenegro under-21 global.

With the club having offloaded Joe Hart and Angus Gunn this summer, also sending 19-year-old prospect Aro Muric on loan, 20-year-old Daniel Grimshaw is now in line to replace Bravo.

Bravo ousted Hart when he joined City from Barcelona in 2016 but lost his place to Ederson after an indifferent first season.

Bravo, a substitute in City's opening two Premier League matches, made just three top-flight appearances for the champions last season.

Scans confirmed the severity of the injury and the Chile global will fly to Barcelona on Thursday to undergo further tests.
