The New York Yankees received some bad injury news on Thursday night after Aaron Judge left the game against the Kansas City Royals after getting hit by a pitch.

Shortly after his removal from the game, thousands of fans at Yankees Stadium utilized the flashlight app on their phones in order to hold an impromptu "candlelight vigil" when they realized Judge was going to the hospital for an MRI exam on his right wrist.

It's impossible to tell how soon Judge might return to his All-Star form once he does get back on the field, but there's no doubt his big bat and elite defense will be sorely missed down the stretch, especially with a crucial four-game series against the division-leading Red Sox next week.

Bulldozer Operator Dies Battling Carr Fire, 3 Firefighters Hurt
The hamlet of French Gulch that dates to the Gold Rush era was evacuated after a vehicle problem ignited the blaze on Monday. The fire in Shasta County was estimated at more than 31 square miles (80 square kilometers) Thursday morning.

Needless to say, losing Judge for any length of time would be a devastating blow, even with Giancarlo Stanton ready to step in as the every day right fielder.

While it's possible the Yankees make a trade to land a veteran outfielder before the end of the non-waiver trade deadline Tuesday, it's likely they will stand pat.

Aaron Judge winced, and so did most everyone else at Yankee Stadium. Judge originally stayed in the game, but he came out after reaching on an infield single in his following at-bat.
