Martial is entering the final year of his current deal, although United have the option to extend it by another 12 months.

"I would like to be in Los Angeles now and I am in San Jose, you can not do whatever you want in life", said Mourinho, who is also linked with a move for Leicester and England centre-half Harry Maguire.

With a host of regular players not in the pre-season tour of the United States, it had been expected of the talented youngster to make the most of the opportunities that will be handed to him.

Jose Mourinho has claimed Man United's pre-season has been "very bad" thanks to the number of World Cup absentees not able to train with the squad.
