Trump says looks forward to second Putin meeting

Moscow is ready to discuss a possible visit by President Vladimir Putin to Washington after a surprise invitation from President Donald Trump, Russia's ambassador to the US said Friday.

Russian politicians are rallying behind Vladimir Putin and denouncing American suggestions that the translator at his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump be interrogated about what they discussed privately.

Sanders said earlier on Wednesday that "the President is going to meet with his team" over the issue and "there was some conversation about it, but there wasn't a commitment made on behalf of the United States" during the Trump-Putin meeting.

The Russian ambassador to Washington also denounced "anti-Russian anger" in the United States and reiterated denials of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election - interrupting a questioner to say "We didn't interfere!"

The cover was released just days after the two leaders' joint press conference in Helsinki, during which Mr. Trump appeared to cast doubt on the conclusion of USA intelligence agencies that Russian Federation interfered with the 2016 election. As recently as this week - immediately after his one-on-one meeting with Putin - Trump appeared to believe Putin's denial over the USA intelligence community's conclusion that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election.

Lemon then said this: "When I read this, I know it sounds odd, it reminded me the scene from "Mommy Dearest" where she beats her daughter because she said her daughter, she said 'you deliberately embarrass me in front of a reporter.' Not the wire hangers... she like chokes her in the living room in front of the reporter".

In a sharp rebuke to the White House, the resolution passed with unanimous support from both parties, 98-0.

The 12 Russians is a reference to those indicted last week by Mueller for their role in interfering in the 2016 USA election.

When CBS News chief White House correspondent Major Garrett asked on Wednesday whether the president believes Russian meddling is happening, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said "not specifically", since "there's now not an election today".

Konstantin Kosachev, head of the upper house of the Russian parliament's foreign affairs committee, said the idea of questioning the translator about what was said privately sets a unsafe precedent that threatens the "the whole idea of diplomacy", according to Russian news agencies.

"The sentence should have been: 'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russian Federation, ' " he said.

Putin, speaking to Russian diplomats from around the world, said the Helsinki summit had been successful.

Russia's official assessment of Trump's high-stakes summit with Putin is carefully upbeat.

Trump on Tuesday said he misspoke during the news conference. "We just have to find a way to get it going", said Rubio, who predicted the measure could get a veto-proof 85 votes in the Senate.

Trump has had a tense relationship with US intelligence agencies since before he was elected - largely due to their conclusion that Putin ordered "an influence campaign" in 2016 aimed at helping the Trump campaign and harming his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

At his joint news conference with Putin, Trump said they discussed Syria "at length" but was vague about the outcome.

In a possible dig at Trump's erratic presidency, Putin touted Russia's "consistent, responsible, independent foreign policy".

Putin doesn't blame Trump for that.

The Americans wanted for questioning by Russian Federation include Michael McFaul, who was ambassador to Russian Federation from January 2012 to February 2014, and American-born financier Bill Browder, who lobbied the USA government to impose new sanctions on Moscow.

The ministry also said it was preparing to conduct flight tests of a new nuclear-powered cruise missile, the Burevestnik or Storm Petrel.

"Basically, they are the ones that are trying to undermine our basic values and divide with our allies", Coats said. "We believe that we held a referendum in strict compliance with worldwide law", he said.
