America's indictment of Russian hackers underlines the cyber risks facing USA politics

Sam Nunberg, a political consultant who worked with Stone, also told CNN that the indictment likely referred to his former boss.

"I think that they're referencing Roger", Nunberg said Friday evening.

The Mueller's team appeared increasingly focused on whether any associates of Trump knew that the Russian government had hacked emails from the DNC and Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta and provided them to Wikileaks during the last presidential election, according to those sources. But US Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said in a Friday press conference that he notified Trump about the indictments "earlier this week" and that he was "fully aware of today's actions by the Department".

Trump says May's Brexit plan could kill hope of U.S. trade deal
Donald Trump said he feels " unwelcome " in London hours after claiming that Londoners "like me a lot", according to The Hill . But on Friday, Trump gave a press conference with May in which he said on Brexit , "Whatever you're going to do is OK with us".

Twitter said today it is removing the accounts of Guccifer 2.0 and DCLeaks from its servers in reaction to the Robert Mueller indictments of 12 Russians who allegedly used the service to interfere with the 2016 presidential election. With that said, there is a chance this information may have been used during the primaries between same-party candidates as well, but with primaries nearly over in most states by the August 15 date cited in the indictment, this seems less likely. Nevins is not named in this indictment, but the revelation that a candidate also communicated with Russian hackers indicates yet another point of contact in a conspiracy that went beyond Trump's campaign.

Mueller indicted 12 Russian military officers in the 2016 hacking of the Democratic National Committee on Friday, alleging they hacked DNC officials and dispersed the stolen documents through online personas, including Guccifer 2.0.

"Leaking after the fact", Stone added, "impossible".

Putin looms for Trump after reality-bending visit with U.S. allies
He called on the special counsel to "end this pursuit of the president and say President Trump is completely innocent". After the indictments were announced, Democrats were quick to urge Trump to cancel the meeting.

Still, Rosenstein said there's now no allegation that any American committed a crime. "There is no allegation in the indictment that the Americans knew they were communicating with Russian intelligence officers", Rosenstein said.

Earlier, while speaking with 7News, Stone said he has no problem admitting that he did speak to somebody who called himself "Guccifer 2.0", but doesn't think it's a real Russian hacker.

The indictment lays out how the Russian intelligence officers, posing as Guccifer 2.0, discussed how to release the stolen documents to "heighten their impact" on the election with organization 1 providing guidance on timing. "The conspirators responded using the Guccifer 2.0 persona and sent the candidate stolen documents related to the candidate's opponent".
