Owner of world's longest nails has them cut after growing them for 66 years

He stopped cutting his left-hand fingernails in 1952, after a teacher scolded him for roughhousing with a friend and accidentally breaking off the teacher's fingernail. He had chose to grow his nails when he was scolded by his school teacher as a result of accidentally breaking the teacher's long nail. Well, this is Shridhar Chillal - and he has been growing the fingernails on his left hand for a massive 66 YEARS.

The clipped nails will now be on display at the Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum.

Shridhar Chillal, an octogenarian from India with the world's longest fingernails measuring over 9 metres, is all set to finally cut his coiled appendages after 66 years at a ceremony in NY.

But All England Lawn Tennis Club chief Richard Lewis told the BBC: " We have said for a couple of years that the final will be played at 2pm, as it is every year ".

Shridhar Chillal, the 66-year-old Indian man with nails as long as a London bus, has finally had them chopped off.

It's not an easy business growing the world's longest nails.

"Ripley's is privileged to display this truly unique and one-of-a-kind exhibit. Mr. Chillal dedicated his life to something truly remarkable and Ripley's is the ideal home to honor his legacy", said Suzanne Smagala-Potts, a Ripley's representative. The teacher said Chillal would never understand the attention to detail and level of care required to take care of long fingernails. The world record holder suffered several difficulties due to the extraordinarily long nails that he had grown over the years.

In order to ensure that the good work done in the first match doesn't go to waste, India will have to continue their dominance. Some poor bowling from Indian pacers, who either sprayed the ball or bowled too short, helped England in making a bright start.

The weight of the long nails left Mr Chillal's hand in a permanently fixed position, unable to separate his fingers. The museum will host a "nail clipping ceremony" today where Chillal's nails will be cut. A nail technician performed the surgery armed with power tools at a ceremony in the Times Square Ripley's museum on Wednesday.

Before Williams, Christine Walton held the title from 2011 with nails measured at 19 feet and nine inches until she cut them off.
