Vehicle seized as investigation into deadly Novichok nerve agent widens in England

Rowley, 45, is still in hospital but regained consciousness on Tuesday, showing a "small but significant" improvement in his condition, medics said.

Police seized a auto in the large town of Swindon as part of their probe into the death of 44-year-old Dawn Sturgess, who was exposed to Novichok, a military-grade nerve agent produced in the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

"We sincerely apologize if any offence was caused, especially to the families of Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley, and understand the timing of the release of this product may have lacked sensitivity", the company said in a statement, quoted by the Bristol Post.

Local residents said the paramedic had told them he got bodily fluids on him, but he had been checked over by doctors and given the "all-clear".

The family also thanked the NHS and the team at Salisbury District Hospital who cared for Ms Sturgess for eight days after she was contaminated by Novichok.

Ms Sturgess lived in Salisbury, and the couple had been in the city before going to Mr Rowley's flat in nearby Amesbury on Friday 29 June.

The mother-of-three's family released a statement saying her death was "devastating" and that she was a "gentle soul who was generous to a fault".

The Kremlin said it was sorry to hear of Ms Sturgess's death but called the suggestion that Russian Federation was involved "absurd".

Detailed searches are continuing at Sturgess's address at John Baker House, Salisbury and Rowley's home in Muggleton Road, Amesbury, along with Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury.

NO traces of nerve agent have been found on a bus used by Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley.
