Netflix may move HDR streaming to more expensive'Ultra plan04 Jul 2018 | Rasmus Larsen

Netflix is reportedly testing out a new, more expensive subscription plan with HD features, but some are speculating it could take benefits away from users on lower payment tiers. Newsweek has learned that the company's rollout plans for the new pricing tier are not yet definite, and it's not clear if the new tier-the only one to have High Dynamic Range (HDR)-will extend outside Europe.

CordCutting.com discovered that the test is also available in other European countries including Germany, which offers the new Ultra plan for €19.99 (around US$23).

Tutto Android has obtained leaked Netflix promotional material that suggests the Netflix Premium tier is changing.

The Netflix Ultra plan is a somewhat misleading one.

Users on the premium tier would see their streams halve from four to two and lose access to HDR, but keep 4K viewing. In other words a price hike.

Netflix is yet to announce the new feature officially, so drop your pitchforks for the time being.

World Cup coach debacle sees Spain go back to the 'dark ages'
While Spain dominated the game, it was two crucial saves from Igor Akinfeev in the penalty shootout that mattered most in the end. The 34-year-old midfielder has signed for Japanese club Vissel Kobe after spending his entire senior career at Barcelona .

A new leak reveals Netflix could be planning to limit its Premium tier to allow just two devices to stream content simultaneously. Some users who are subscribed to the Standard "HD" plan were also restricted to a single stream, according to Phone Arena.

"Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer specific elements included in the test to our members". This essentially means that Netflix Premium users will have to upgrade to the more expensive Ultra tier to maintain the same level of service.

"We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time", Netflix said.

CNET got confirmation from Netflix that the company is "testing slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers value Netflix". Time will tell whether Netflix decides to make any official changes to its pricing structure and roll them more widely.
