The raccoon started to climb the 20-plus story UBS Tower in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, on Tuesday, pulling a regular Tom Cruise with almost vertical climbing abilities.

There wasn't much St Paul Animal Control could do because a rescue mission would be too risky for both the raccoon and the workers.

The raccoon was first spotted on a ledge Tuesday morning.

According to WCCO, the raccoon began a descent at around 11:30pm ET, "making it to the 14th floor about 15 minutes later".

At the 23rd floor, it stopped for a nap, allowing time for more photos. The building's windows don't open, according to MPR. The story was picked up by Minnesota Public Radio and the raccoon's saga - with the hashtag "mprraccoon" went viral.

Rescue efforts by the St. Paul Fire Department and building workers, who fashioned a makeshift ladder, have proven unsuccessful.

Frost and others tried to save the raccoon, but the first attempt didn't work out too well, as the raccoon made a decision to climb higher.
