What’s next for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers?

At the moment, we're waiting eagerly for the National Basketball Association landscape to change.

If James still wants the max contract but doesn't want to re-sign with the Cavs, he can orchestrate a trade to another team, which could benefit the Cavs.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James during a news conference following Game 4 of basketball's NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, early Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Cleveland. They have not indicated a willingness to accept pay cuts, but even if they wanted to, as leaders of the players union, it would look bad for them to take less than they could get to play together.

Nobody knows whether Lebron James will leave Cleveland or not this summer but one thing is for sure: he'll definitely be on somebody's roster next year. More than likely, though, only a few teams will have a legitimate shot at convincing him to sign on the dotted line.

He's won a record-setting 10 titles on the clay at Roland Garros and often finished off his final opponents in straight sets. Nadal won his opening service game to love and then went 30-0 up on Thiem's serve before the Austrian won his first point.

The last time LeBron James made a significant decision regarding relocation he made a point of keeping Dwyane Wade out of the loop, to save his friend the burden of having to carry a secret.

Since returning to the Cavaliers in 2014, James has not been willing to accept anything less than the maximum amount.

This makes sense, of course, since Paul is the president of the National Basketball Players Association and played an instrumental role in changing the "Over 36" rule to "Over 38".

"The one thing that I've always done is considered, obviously, my family", LeBron said about his decision process. "I'm hard on myself a lot of times, but I've got to realize I've only been coaching for 2½ years".

Will Chris Paul succeed in recruiting LeBron James this summer? If James is having problems in Cleveland then NY would be a whole other story.

Among the boasts offered by Gilbert at the time included a prediction that the Cavaliers would win a title before James and the Heat.

It could benefit the Cavs in other ways, too. According to ESPN's Stephen A Smith, the Heat will be among the teams to meet with him. That would require James to play until at least his 22nd season in the league, at which point he'd be 40-years-old. To make up the needed amount of money they would have to send to Cleveland, that would nearly surely mean the Rockets would have to trade Eric Gordon (due $13.5 million next season) P.J. Tucker ($7.9 million next season), plus every other remaining contract on their roster. After the loss, LeBron took out his anger on a whiteboard in the visitor's locker room leaving James with a deep bone contusion on his shooting hand.

Right now, the most popular predictions for James' destination have been the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, with his current team, the Cleveland Cavaliers also strongly in the mix.
