Kevin Durant’s heroics against Cavaliers pull Warriors to brink of championship repeat

And when they delivered one last dose of routine dominance Friday night, polishing off the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-85 to complete an NBA Finals sweep, it was as if someone had yelled "spoiler alert!" way back on opening night.

The series probably ended on JR Smith's dribble out at the end of regulation in Game 1, but after Golden State's late Game 3 rally the Finals were really all but over as the Warriors held a 3-0 lead. LeBron James started the game looking to involve his teammates and finished with a triple-double of 33 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Kevin Love added 20 points while Rodney Hood provided the spark off the bench with 15 points on seven of 11 shooting.

It's the second Finals sweep of James' career, the first coming with the Cavaliers in 2007 against the San Antonio Spurs (also the most recent year any team was swept in the Finals).

The last four NBA Finals have been between the Warriors and Cavs, with Golden State winning three of them.

Manafort blasts Mueller's 'dubious' accusation of attempted witness tampering
Allies of Manafort urged him to cut off communication with Kilimnik, also known as "KK", The Times reported. The government has not charged Manafort with the crime of witness-tampering or obstruction of justice.

Durant, who had a playoff career-best 43 points in game three, became only the sixth back-to-back finals MVP.

It doesn't quite rise to the level of a war of words - these two teams spend a lot of time complimenting one another - but Stephen Curry took mild umbrage with something James said after Game 3.

They built a lead as big as 13. The Cavs tried, fighting hard for rebounds and keeping the score close for much of the first half. This time it was Durant's Warriors doing the sweeping.

LeBron had another big game for Cleveland (33 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds), Love added 20 and 13, and Hood at 14 and 6 off the bench, and the Cavs did nearly everything right in throttling the offensive opportunities for the Splash Brothers.

Harry Kane: Tottenham striker signs new contract until 2024
Kane is now the leading scorer in the Premier League era for Tottenham after surpassing Teddy Sheringham's total of 97. It's been a great few seasons, so I'm looking forward to the future. "I've just signed a new contract".

LeBron James didn't waste any time getting off the floor Friday night, but unlike last time he left Cleveland, he didn't rip off his jersey.

Klay Thompson scored 10 points for the Warriors and Draymond Green contributed nine points and nine assists.

Golden State controlled the first quarter but the Cavaliers outscored the Warriors 14-4 to open the second.

None of the previous 131 teams that faced a 3-0 hole in the National Basketball Association playoffs has ever rallied to win a series. "They made some mini-runs, but over the course of 48 minutes our will took over". In Game 3, he re-aggravated an ankle injury he sustained during the Eastern Conference Finals.

Take 5: Most likely landing spots for LeBron James
When LeBron James weighs his options in free agency, he could consider all of the NBA's top teams. The Cleveland Cavaliers are down 3-0 and facing the dreaded sweep at home on Friday night.
