Andy Murray still holds Wimbledon hope despite slow recovery

Andy Murray

Andy Murray's most recent match was a Wimbledon quarter-final defeat by Sam Querrey last July

With Wimbledon fast approaching, Murray, who has slipped to 47th in the world, said he had returned to training and playing the grass-court season remained his aim.

He said in a video shot at a promotional appearance for a vehicle sponsor that he recently began training again and is still hoping to play on the grass.

"I was excited to play there for the first time, but I am not quite ready to return".

"I've started training a few days ago and hoping to make my comeback during the grass-court season", Murray said.

Andy Murray has not played since losing in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon previous year and having hip surgery.

Yankees won't play 'Sunday Night Baseball' game
The issue stems the Yankees being scheduled to take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday Night Baseball on July 8th. Erik Boland started in Newsday's sports department in 2002.

The former world number one has not played since he was knocked out of the Wimbledon quarter-finals last July due to a hip injury.

He underwent hip surgery in January after travelling to Australia in a bid to play in the Australian Open which failed to materialise.

Murray has twice won Wimbledon, in 2013 and 2016, and also won the 2012 US Open.

'It has been very slow, I've been out getting close to a year now which is a lot longer than I expected'.

She told BBC Sport: "He's doing the rehabilitation".

Cleveland Cavaliers' JR Smith trolled by Golden State Warriors crowd
He began heating up in the second quarter, making 3 of 4 3-pointers to help the Warriors push the lead to 59-45 at halftime. The Cavs, who climbed from a 2-0 hole to beat Boston in the conference finals, have major roster holes and unfixable flaws.

"The most important thing is he gets fit again for the long term and any top athlete would tell you they would not come back until they felt they could give 100 per cent, especially in a major like Wimbledon".

He attempted to make a comeback at the beginning of 2018 but suffered a setback and went under the knife, with the grass-court season always a target for his return. He's been back on the court in the last couple of days.

Murray has entered the Queen's Club tournament, which he has won five times, but has yet to confirm he will play there.

Of greater long-term importance, however, is how the hip responds when Murray starts to up the intensity of his on-court sessions, and begins to play practice sets against other ATP players.
