More than 300,000 cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and early syphilis were reported in the state-up 45 percent since 2013, according to the California Department of Public Health.

Chlamydia is the most commonly reported STD; the rates are highest in 20 to 24-year-old women.

The California Department of Public Health released its yearly report Monday, calling 2017 a record year for cases.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) announces since 2012, rates of syphilis among both men and women have been steadily increasing in Los Angeles County and in California.

The report said that people who are under the age of 30 are the ones who suffer with chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

But don't expect Celtics coach Brad Stevens to fall for the potential smokescreen that is Thompson's starting presence. He's at the forefront of that. "We're very flexible, and we'll change it if we feel like we need it".

Rates for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis have been rising nationally for several years.

In 2017, Kern County has 6,864 cases of Chlamydia, placing the county third in state behind Alpine and San Francisco counties. If left untreated, Chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause pelvic inflammatory disease and lead to infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain.

Idaho health officials said the rise in STD rates paralleled the use of mobile dating apps.

"Regular testing and treatment are very important for people who are sexually active, even for people who have no symptoms", Smith added.

Syphilis is categorized as primary, secondary, latent, and tertiary- and each stage has different signs and symptoms.

Klausner placed much of the blame for the overall STD spike on what he called the "decimation" of public health infrastructure since the 2008 financial crisis. From 2016 to 2017, there were as many cases of congenital syphilis as in the previous 10 years combined. The syphilis rate for African-Americans were two times higher. In women, it can also be passed to the baby, called congenital syphilis and can result in stillbirth, early death, or long-term infection.

Another 278 babies were born with the infection, which can cause severe health problems including premature birth, low birth weight, birth defects, blindness and hearing loss.

Health officials said they were working with local public health agencies and community partners to enhance their capacity to investigate and reduce the spread of STDs.
