A 7-week-old baby is recovering after a freak accident at a softball game left her with a broken skull and brain injuries.
McKenna Hovenga was hit on May 2 while at her dad's softball game in Shell Rock, Iowa. Lee had his back turned to the field as he helped Kassy get situated to breastfeed.
"The ball came over the fence - and either hit McKenna first or hit Kassy first".

Although McKenna has a long road to recovery, her family says she's making some great strides.
McKenna Hovenga suffered multiple skull fractures and two brain bleeds after the freak accident on May 2.
She was transported to an area hospital before being flown to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, according to the Waverly Courier.

Four days after McKenna was hit, she had been seizure-free for 48 hours and doctors began to wean her off her seizure medication, according to a post on the Healing for McKenna Facebook page.
"Unfortunately, we can't bubble wrap our babies, as much as we may want", a post on the YouCaring page says.
