According to local media reports, the bandits attacked Gwaska village in the Birnin Gwari area at about 2:30pm local time (13:30 GMT) and fought local defence forces protecting the community. He said the attackers were from Zamfara state, and that they shot at children and torched houses as residents fled. Also the Armed bandits burnt down completely the village of about 3,000 inhabitants.
He spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons.
He described the attack as the worst in the troubled the area, which has witnessed several previous attacks.
