Former President George H.W. Bush has been released from a Houston hospital where he spent 13 days recovering from an infection that required his hospitalization a day after his wife's funeral. Earlier this week, we learned both George H.W. and Barbara Bush will forever be part of Texas history and Houston Methodist Hospital.

Bush, 93, was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital o, spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.

Barbara Bush passed away in April at the age of 92. The former president shook the hands of dozens of well-wishers at her viewing the day before the funeral.

The family spokesman continued to provide updates on Bush's condition throughout his time in the hospital, previously sharing that the former president was "in great spirits" and "looking forward to going home".

Bush is expected to continue convalescing at home, but he will reportedly not let this medical setback ruin his summer plans. When asked about his recovery, McGrath said, "The 41st President wants to go to ME this summer. He's the most goal-oriented person on the planet, and I would not bet against him".
