In an audacious attack, shots were fired at Pakistan Supreme Court judge Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan's house in Lahore on Saturday night and again today morning.

Two separate firing incidents were reported at the residence of Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan on Sunday.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, condemning the incident, demanded that the government should probe it and bring the culprits to justice. Chief Justice Nisar has summoned the IGP Punjab and ordered the investigation into the matter.

The military spokesman, Major General Asif Ghafoor, condemned the firing incident at the residence of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan while terming it "condemnable". The bullet holes are spotted at the main gate of the residence and in the kitchen window.

A statement said that the chief justice himself is monitoring the situation.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident, ordering an investigation. He also asked the Punjab inspector general (IG) to submit a report on the incident.

They demanded the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security of judges across the country.

"This is a highly condemnable incident".

According to police officials, the judge's private security guard, Din Mohammad, discovered a 9mm bullet casing inside the residence at 6am on Sunday after which the police were called in.

A forensic team has also reached the scene to collect evidence while ballistic experts are called in to determine the nature of fire.

In an emergent media conference here, SCBA President Pir Kalim Khurshid, Vice President Qamar Zaman Qureshi and Secretary Safdar Tarar said that some elements had sheer misconception of intimidating the honorable judges of apex court through such coward tactics.

Naz Baloch, who quit PTI to join PPP previous year, termed the firing as an "attack on judicial independence".

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan took to Twitter to condemn incident.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan was a member of the bench that ruled that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif could not become party chief after his disqualification.
