Cool, calm weather expected for first half of week — FIRST ALERT FORECAST

Rain, Possible Severe Storms this Weekend

Central AL Forecast: Sun-filled Friday ahead of potentially severe weather on Saturday

Despite lots of sun, temperatures will only climb into mid 60s Sunday afternoon. We'll have a cold east to northeast wind and temperatures may not rise out of the 30s. Dry and milder with gusty winds at times. Freeze warnings are in effect for our far northern counties, most notably those closest to I-40. Tuesday afternoon will be a little blustery in much of the area with highs in the 40s. Frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and pea-size hail will be the only threats with any of the earlier storms we see through at least 4 PM. Snow levels Monday morning expected to be around 3000 feet. Lows drop into the lower 50s. A cold front will move across the area Thursday night.

The forecast will remain dry for the first half of the upcoming week. Updates are available on WAAY 31 News, at WAAYTV.com, on the Severe Storm Tracker app, and on social media.

Sunday: A chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. We'll be keeping an eye on it as we go throughout the week.
