State governor announces run for US Senate

"It can work, it must work, we're going to make sure it works for Florida and for all of us".

It's nearly as though the powerful dynamics that launched Scott into office are reversing, said Steven Schale, a Florida Democratic strategist who watched nearly helplessly as Florida turned against Democrats in 2010, 2012 and 2014 while President Barack Obama was in office. "Now we have to take that same mission to D.C".

Scott was first elected governor in 2010 but he can not run again because of term limits.

"I never planned to fit in, and I won't fit in Washington either".

"We need to shake up Washington", he told supporters at the warehouse. "While it's clear that Rick Scott will say or do anything to get elected, I've always believed that if you just do the right thing, the politics will take care of itself".

Latin America unfazed by Trump bypassing summit
When speaking on Monday, Trump stated that "nothing is off the table", in dealing with Syria following the chemical attack . The Syrian government is blamed for a chemical weapons attack on its own people that the president called an "attrocity".

Rick Scott, with his wife, Ann, announces his campaign for the U.S. Senate at a news conference in Orlando. "Donald Trump's numbers in the state of Florida are abysmal and not improving", Florida-based GOP strategist Rick Wilson told The Fix in March, adding that slumps in the stock market and in real estate often whack Florida's economy first and last the longest there. The ties between the two men run deep. Scott is a multi-millionaire who used millions of his own money in his two gubernatorial campaigns.

"I've always run every race like there's no tomorrow -regardless of my opponent", Nelson said Monday.

"People are flocking to Florida, because this is where you can live the American dream", he said. I think he'll do a good job as a senator.

"Almost 1.5 million jobs, $10 billion in tax reductions, over $9 billion in debt reductions in this state", Scott said.

Most polls predict a Scott-Nelson race to be close, although according to the average, Nelson holds a lead in most.

However, the Republican-affiliated Associated Industries of Florida polling finds that Scott might be leading by as many as seven points.

"This concept of career politicians has got to stop", he said.

But Scott's position on gun control is viewed skeptically by Democrats, who note that he did not embrace such action after the 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando in the same way he did after the mass shooting at a Parkland high school in February.

Rubio noted in the tweet that he will be "contributing to, voting for & supporting" Scott's candidacy, seemingly forgetting a long-ago promise he made not to do so way back on March 27. In the same survey, 42 percent of voters said they approved of Trump, while 54 percent said they disapprove. Forty-eight percent of respondents said they approved of Nelson, while 34 percent said they disapproved, according to the survey.

Scott will challenge Democratic Sen. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has already launched a website and begun running ads attacking the governor for "looking out for himself, not doing what's best for Floridians".
