Twins Agree to Terms With RHP Lance Lynn

The Minnesota Twins have released veteran starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez.

Sanchez's departure will open up a roster spot for righty Lance Lynn, who the Twins signed on Saturday to a one-year, $12M contract, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

Sanchez pitched four innings in Grapefruit League play, shutting out Boston without allowing a hit for two innings on February 27, but surrendering six runs on five hits against the Pirates on March 4.

"We wanted to give him every opportunity to sign with another big-league team and compete for their rotation", Twins general manager Thad Levine told reporters. It had everything to do with what we represented.

Lynn started 31 games in 2017, going 12-11 with a 3.43 ERA but a 4.82 FIP.

But he had a 6.41 ERA last season in 105 ⅓ innings, and the Tigers declined his option, making him a free agent.
