He signaled Saturday they would not be the last. Then, they traded for their franchise QB, Jimmy Garoppolo at the trade deadline.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - As insane as it would have sounded three or four years ago, after Friday's news that the Seattle Seahawks released cornerback Richard Sherman, it wasn't that hard to picture him playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

Although the 49ers are in desperate need of a strong cornerback, there are some concerns about Sherman's health and age. A top-tier cover corner also would help the Panthers' pass rush and the entire defense (see the Josh Norman effect in 2105).

That uncertain health status also makes the financial side of this more hard. For one, he would get to play the Seahawks twice a year.

Anthony Davis (sprained ankle) day-to-day, doubtful for big game vs. Wizards
Davis has played in 58 games this season, averaging 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. Both Davis and coach Alvin Gentry downplayed the severity of the injury after the game.

Sherman is now an unrestricted free agent and free to negotiate and sign with another team.

Sherman would be returning close to where he played college ball at Stanford University.

Sherman is a West Coast guy.

Of course, this is all dependent on Sherman actually leaving Northern California without a contract. The NFL Network reported that he was scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions in the coming week while ESPN said he had a half dozen suitors, including the Raiders.

Tube bomb accused trained 'to kill' by Islamic State, court heard
After the bombing, hefled to Dover, changing his clothes, but was picked up by police the following morning, jurors have heard. A box of nuts, bolts and screwdrivers were also seized along with three tubes of fake blood and a blue vase, jurors heard.

However, all these teams are now in a holding pattern based on the meeting with the 49ers today. The Seahawks saved $11 million against the 2018 salary cap by releasing Sherman.

This situation is one that could move very quickly. If the front office is happy with the news, Sherman could receive a contract offer right away.

Sherman is already drawing significant interest around the league and will be meeting with the San Francisco 49ers to kick off his free agency.
