Apple aims to enter the high-end headphones market

Capitalising on the surprise success of the company's AirPods, Apple has been rumoured to have been working on high-end, over-the-ear, noise-cancelling headphones and a new report from Bloomberg seemingly confirms these whispers.

Work on this product has been on-and-off over the past year, according to the report, with the company going through multiple redesigns of the product.

Bloomberg says that the headphones will be noise-cancelling, and offer the same wireless pairing functionality as AirPods. Apple intends to launch the new headphones in time for the lucrative holiday shopping season although development challenges could toss a wrench into those plans.

Apple has sold over-ear headphones since it acquired Beats in 2014 but has yet to release an Apple-branded pair.
