Canucks send veteran Thomas Vanek to Columbus

Vanek was acquired by Columbus from Vancouver in exchange for forwards Tyler Motte and Jussi Jokinen on Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Vanek, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is tied for second on the Canucks in scoring this season. The 13-year pro has 350 goals and 388 assists in 946 National Hockey League games. In Vanek, the Jackets are getting an offensively gifted wing who has the potential to improve the team's 30th-ranked power-play unit, which is converting just 14.6 percent of its opportunities.

I don't think he's the kind of guy who would ever be content to just take orders from someone else. "And have people see my work". He said goodbye to his family with no fear, wanting nothing more than to soothe them and leave them feeling as strong as he felt.

Vanek will join the team in Los Angeles for Thursday night's game against the Kings.

"He's a competitive defenseman", Kekalainen said.

Is Marcus Peters a toxic mixture the Rams really need?
Since the 1970 merger, only Richard Sherman , Ed Reed and Everson Walls had more interceptions in their first three seasons. Peters is one of the most talented cornerbacks in football and just 25 years old.

On Sunday, the team got Letestu, who spent 2011-15 with the Blue Jackets, from the Nashville Predators for a 2018 fourth-round selection.

Motte, 22, has five points in 31 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He was a fourth-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013 and has 12 career points (seven goals, five assists) in 64 games over parts of two seasons.
