Champions League Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen scored the two goals for Spurs

Tottenham produced a brilliant comeback to draw at Juventus after a disastrous start to their Champions League last-16 first leg in Turin.

The tie is finely poised, and Juventus, streetwise and experienced, have the tools to catch their opponents out at Wembley in the second leg, but Tottenham's manager knows that his team, who have won at home vs. Manchester United and Arsenal in the past two weeks, are learning how to compete with - and beat - the best.

"He's an awesome defender", Kane continued.
"My first start for England probably the first five minutes he made a challenge and I probably had a dead leg for 10 minutes".

Kane is yet to win any silverware with the north London side and many believe he may have to leave his boyhood club to realise his ambitions.

"I think Christian had an wonderful game.

Matters swiftly went from bad to worse for Spurs as Ben Davies tripped Bernardeschi inside the area and referee Felix Brych pointed instantly to the spot.

Higuain clinically doubled the lead, picking up his second from 12 yards, despite Hugo Lloris getting a strong hand on the spot-kick.

However, with Juventus content to sit back, Spurs began to dominate possession and nearly got one back in the 26th but Buffon pulled off a great save to keep out Kane's header from point-blank range.

Juve were unsafe on the counter-attack with Higuain nearly scoring a third but Tottenham were back in the tie when Alli picked out Kane after 35 minutes and the England striker rounded Buffon before sliding home.

Mousa Dembele was central to all of Tottenham's positive play.

Higuain took the ball but rather than celebrate a first-half hat-trick his penalty kick rattled against the crossbar.

Juventus played more like the away side in the second half with Tottenham again pressing, although the hosts went close with Lloris saving well from Bernardeschi and Mario Mandzukic then heading straight at the thankful French keeper.

"It's like we lost 8-0 - good doctors are needed, not one, but many very, very good", Allegri berated journalists at the post-match press conference. "The tie is 180 minutes but we are nearly there".

Juve, unbeaten at home in the competition since losing to Bayern Munich in April 2013, took the lead inside the first two minutes through a fine volley from Higuain, although he was perhaps lucky not to be penalised for offside. We defended quite well, we were clinical.
