Bitter cross-border enemies North and South Korea on Wednesday said both countries would march under a single flag during the opening ceremony of the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Olympic invitations can be issued only at the OAR Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM), due on January 27, 2018 in PyeongChang. "We will do our best to build "peace" in the world".

A further complication for Seoul and the International Olympic Committee is ensuring that while accommodating the North and ensuring that the so-called "peace Olympics" pass off smoothly, neither violates United Nations sanctions.

On December 5, the IOC Executive Board announced its decision to suspend the whole Russian national team from taking part in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea's PyeongChang over multiple doping abuse allegations.

The DPRK has earlier criticized South Korean President Moon Jae-in because the president praised U.S. President Donald Trump for U.S. contribution to realizing the inter-Korean talks through maximum pressure and sanctions.

Describing the agreement as "a milestone in a long journey", Bach also confirmed North and South Korea will be allowed to field a unified women's ice hockey team at the Games. "Whether you're South Korean or North Korean, they have to earn their place".

Several South Korean officials greeted the North Koreans at the customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) office at Dorasan Station, just south of the border.
