Peugeot plans to electrify its entire auto lineup by 2025

Automotive News quoted Tavares as telling the paper's World Congress that PSA would offer 40 hybrid or fully electric models within seven years.

The last time Peugeot sold vehicles in the US market was during the waning years of the George H.W. Bush administration.

Although Tavares refuses to publicly nominate the brand the company will use for its eventual return to the USA, he's confident by 2026 the company will be selling its own vehicles through a new type of distribution model.

The company is said to have a 10 year plan which was announced in 2016, to enter the USA market and it will be completed by 2026, when it will make its entry. Tavares says the Opel brand will develop products for the U.S. The third step will be to start offering Peugeot vehicles designed with Opel engineers who worked designing vehicles for GM that were sold in the United States. However, some American customers might be familiar with the brands and the technology.

They plan to use the engineers from Opel for the endeavour.

That's a list of three very ambitious goals, especially given Peugeot's exit from the USA market over two decades ago, but Tavares has discussed the plan to re-enter the US previously.
