Met Eireann has this afternoon issued another Status Orange weather alert, warning that the fog may become more extensive and dense later this evening.

The met office added: "There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected".

Thick fog will also cause travel chaos across the United Kingdom as commuters will face hard driving conditions and flight delays today.
