Christa Leigh Steele-Knudslien, who founded the Miss Trans America pageant, is dead at 42. According to the Berkshire Eagle, police in Adams, Massachusetts were called to the couple's home on several occasions for "neighborhood" issues before they moved to North Adams previous year.
According to the office of Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless, an autopsy by the state's medical examiner concluded she died from the "loss of blood due to a stab wound to the torso; a contributing factor was multiple blunt force trauma to the head". Her husband came to the Adams Police Department, spoke to an officer, reportedly saying he had done something and deserved to be in handcuffs.
Judge Paul Vrabel ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without the right to bail. The police have not yet released a motive nor how Christa Leigh was murdered.
This is the first murder in the city since 2013.
