Lenovo makes shooting VR easy with Mirage camera and Daydream headset

Which again, makes it lighter weight and since it is already pretty thin, it can slide right into your pocket without looking awkward - unlike most 360-degree cameras on the market right now.

If you're looking to buy the headset itself, the best bet is to go for one of the various bundles, which tend to include the headset, the PlayStation Camera (which you need to run the headset), and a game or two. HTC announced a new, wireless Vive Pro at CES, and Oculus announced the Oculus for Business bundle back in October 2017.

Lenovo claims it's the "world's first" standalone Daydream VR headset, so doesn't require a smartphone or PC to run. Today at CES, it's announced an expansion of the platform by working with OEM partners.

Lenovo Mirage Solo users will be the first to experience the full potential of motion-tracking technology, called WorldSense, on Google's Daydream virtual reality platform.

The Mirage headset is slated for a second-quarter release. It also will have dual mics, a headphone jack (!) and a 2560 x 1440 LCD screen.

The Mirage Solo is Daydream compatible, so it should be mentioned that Google's Daydream portal might be pre-installed to the system. It can also be viewed in 2D on mobile or desktop through Google Photos and YouTube.

"VR180 cameras are simple and designed for anyone to use, even if they've never tried VR before". Google says that YI will have a camera out this Spring (seen above).

Google announced VR180 previous year at its IO conference. Meanwhile, other companies like Z Cam and Panasonic are offering VR180 devices aimed at professionals. On the flip side, it doesn't need to be plugged into a high-end gaming PC - everything you need for instant VR is included in one package. They transition seamlessly to a VR experience when viewed with Cardboard, Daydream, and PSVR, which allow you to view the images stereoscopically in 3-D, where near things look near, and far things appear far.
