Greenville Kmart among 103 stores slated to close

An additional 103 Sears and KMart stores will close in the next several months, Sears Holdings announced Thursday.

The Sanford Sears Hometown Store, located at 2534 Lee Ave., is not among the list of locations set to close, according to a news release issued by Sears Holdings.

A K-mart in the Northern TIer will shut its doors this spring after the company announced Thursday another round of store closings.

This is the latest in a round of closings of Sears and Kmart aimed at getting the company on solid financial footing.

Eligible employees will receive severance, according to the release, but it did not say how many employees would be affected overall.

Liquidation sales will begin as soon as next Friday at the stores. Most of the retailers' employees are part-time.
