Ryanair said on Friday it had written to pilot unions in Ireland (Other OTC: IRLD - news), the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal in a bid to smooth turbulent industrial relations by offering talks on officially recognising the unions for the first time.
Ryanair has also claimed that they have offered to meet IALPA and their Ryanair pilot committee on Tuesday, December 19, "if that would suit them better".
The airline wants to meet representatives on Tuesday and the union says it won't know if the strike will go ahead until after this meeting.

The low-priced airline's refusal to recognise unions was at the heart of the model that transformed the small Irish regional airline into Europe's largest carrier by passenger numbers.
Niall Shanahan, a spokesman for Impact, a union to which IALPA is affiliated, said: "We indicated to Ryanair that we were happy to meet them on Wednesday, but we would not be in a position to consider suspending the scheduled industrial action until we met them".
